Pallab Das of Varanasi received training in vocal music initially from his father Gorakh Nath Das, a dhrupad singer as well as a rudra veena and flute player of repute. Later he came under the tutelage of Dr.Ritwik Sanyal. He further specialized in the dagar bani of dhrupad under Ustad Zia Fariduddin Khan Dagar in the Dhrupad Academy, Bhopal. He is presently under the guidance of Ustad Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar and also honing his skills on the rudra veena under his father. A graded artist of AIR, Pallab has performed at major Dhrupad festivals in India and abroad and is a recipient of the Certificate of Excellence by the North American Dhrupad Association.
