PALLAB belongs to a Musical family and born in holly city Varanasi in the year 1972. At an early age of five he has been receiving traditional Guru - Shishya Parampara Training in Dhrupad Vocal Under the guidance of his father Sri Gorakh Nath Das, who is an eminent Dhrupad Singer. Side -wise Dhrupad style flute and Rudra Veena Player. Also maker of both flute and Rudra Veena and disciple of unique Rudra Veena player, Dhrupad legend and great teacher late Ustad Zia - Mohiuddin Dagar.
Pallab was under guidance of Dr. Ritwik Sanyal (Dhrupad vocalist and Musicologist) for time to time. He had great opportunity to specialize himself in Dagar Bani Dhrupad style under strict discipline of renowned Dhrupad maestro Ustad Zia - Fariduddin Dagar, who is one of the living 19th generation exponent of Dagar family.
He is presently under the guidance of Ustad Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar. PALLAB is one of the leading young Dhrupad Vocal performer Artist Awarded with "Certificate of Excellence" out of top five scholar of the world, by "North American Dhrupad Association (NADA)" Berkeley, Santa, Monika in year 1999. He is an all India Radio Dhrupad Vocal Performing Artist. He has been participating in various Dhrupad Music Conferences in India i.e. Delhi, Kolkata, Varanasi Dhrupad Mela, Mathura-Brindaban & other places.
PALLAB is in constant search for the ultimate beauty of the sound that exist in musical system within our heritage culture and also the universal qualities of beauty that exist in all musics. He is aware of qualities of restraint, sense of proportion, right intonation and raag. The micro tonal subtle nuances, the deep and vastness and creativity underlining the Dhrupad Tradition. The subtle gamakas that produce has a magical and mystical effect on the listener.
His systematic expansion of music starts with ALAPA. Alapa is judicious blend of continuity, sweep, sparkle, repose, dignity and sublimity. Timbre quality of flute and rudra veena's micro tonic visual effect is easily observed in his music, as he received training and acquainted himself with flute and rudra veena. Power and spontaneity rich repertoire of composition and perfect use of "AKSWAR-SVAR" i.e. te, ta, ra, na, na and ri, naa, noom, ri designating OM. These three primary vowels aa, ee, oo influencing a note into its akar, ekar and ukar. These are to support the basic rhythm construction made possible by the akswar, chhanda and improvisation. Aesthetic decorum is found in his performance and attainment of sublimity and ultimate goal of peace. He is able to render uncompromising form of classical music from existing other contemporary practitioner of Dhrupad-Dhamar and Khyal.
